Why was Miriam Punished?

Exodus 15:20-21

Miriam was from a family of priests, but she had her own ministry, her own purpose. She was a great influence among her people. Yet, years down the line, she lost sight of her role as a supporting pillar in the presence of God and envied the top spot, leading others astray. When God punished her, it was not just because of her statement; it was because of what she caused. The same woman who led an entire nation in worship was rebelling and the likes of Kohath and Abinadab followed.

Often times, we loose sight of what we have been called to do and end up falling short of the standard. Every role is important, and if we don’t understand this, we run the risk of creating havoc in the church. What’s your purpose? Why were you called? What example are you showing to those around you? Whose image are you reflecting?
